Method #1: Warm water and white vinegar
White vinegar is well-known forĀ rug stain removalĀ almost instantly. White vinegar can remove stubborn substances such as mustard, ketchup and wine.
Pour as much white vinegar as possible over the spilt stain or spill to cover it completely. Wait for about 5 minutes. Use warm water to rinse the white vinegar. You may have to repeat this process for stubborn stains, but it should work for most rug types.
Method #2: Baking soda and hot water
This is a great way to clean up liquid spillages and the resulting stains. Baking soda is well-known for its many uses in the home. Baking soda is a great option if you have spillage from fruit juice, coffee, fizzy drinks, or any other sticky liquids.
Sprinkle baking soda on the spilt liquid immediately. Let the baking soda sit for about an hour before you use hot water and sponge to clean up the rest. You should have a beautiful, non-marking rug.
Method #3: A pure H2O steam clean
This is the only method that doesnāt require any additional equipment. Other than a steamer, you just need to use tap water. Sometimes, stains are just dried-on food and grime. To remove them, all you need is hot water.
A steamer that usesĀ only waterĀ is enough to remove these stains and bring back the rugās original beauty will often suffice. You can also use a water-based carpet vacuum to remove stains if you donāt own a steamer.
Method #4: Beer
It works for everyone, from the mundane to the extreme. You may have believed it impossible to get rid of coffee or tea stains from your rug if youāve ever spilled them. This is a lie! Hereās the secret to your life: Beer! You can actually lift the stain by pouring a little beer on top. Rub the stain lightly and it should disappear. You may have to do this again to remove any traces of stain.
Method#5: Shaving Cream
Everybody has that one child. Simply blot the area with a sponge, then use a moist sponge to apply shaving cream. This cream is great for oil and grease stains. However, you need to work the cream into the stain a little more. Then, let dry, then wipe it over with a damp sponge.
Method#6: Salt
Red wine is always a good idea on a white carpet.Ā This is true until you drink too much and then the glass becomes half empty after all the spillage, as the white carpet said.Ā Donāt worry, you can pour white wine on top of the red wine while it is still damp to dilute its colour.Ā Continue cleaning the area with a sponge, cold water, and salt. Wait for about 10 minutes.Ā You will now need to sweep up all the mess.
Salt is also a great treatment for greasy food stains. Mix 1 part salt with 4 parts rubbing alcohol, and rub the stain hard.Ā Ensure that you rub the rug in the natural direction.
